Grid 115 kV and 345 kV Transmission Lines - Warwick, Providence,
N. Providence, Lincoln, N. Smithfield, & Burrillville,
RI |

Mason
& Associates completed wetland delineation along 45
miles of transmission lines to help National Grid prepare
for a major structure replacement/refurbishment project.
Using ArcView GIS software and AutoCAD, Mason & Associates
supplemented National Grid's existing transmission line
mapping with wetland boundaries, stream locations, and access
routes to each structure. To help maintain the “Exempt
Activity” status of this maintenance project, Mason
& Associates provided detailed access information for
each structure, including necessary BMPs, and rare species
mapping. Mason & Associates provided follow-on support
to National Grid during the construction phase of this project.

| Statoil
Power Plant Siting Study - Hartford Metropolitan Area, CT |
Mason
& Associates completed a preliminary review of potential
environmental constraints at two alternative power plant
sites near the Connecticut River. This process involved
both fieldwork and aerial photograph interpretation, as
well as review of pertinent laws and regulations. Potential
impacts to the shortnosed sturgeon (Acipenser brevirostrum),
a species protected under the Endangered Species Act, were
of critical concern. |

Fore River Station Combined Cycle Power Plant - Weymouth,
MA |

Ongoing
construction inspection and regulatory reporting has been
provided by Mason & Associates to assist Exelon and
Sithe New England in the development of a new 750 megawatt
electric power plant powered by natural gas. Mason &
Associates performed weekly site inspections of erosion
and sediment controls and nearby coastal water resources
for over two and a half years of construction. Inspections
were performed to assure compliance with an Order of Conditions
issued by the Weymouth Conservation Commission. Key issues
involved coordination of erosion controls between contractors
involved in separate projects occurring on the site, including
a marine gas pipeline, major drawbridge replacement, and
wastewater tunnel project. |
